A day in the life....

Karen Sandhu,

Account Manager

My career at Consort started in October 2009, having come from an onsite recruitment background, I was looking for a challenge and joining as an Account Manager was a great opportunity!

My role is to account manage all aspects of my client's Head office recruitment. My day starts out by catching up on emails, from the day before and tackling those urgent queries that come my way. This could be calls from candidates about roles or interviews they are attending, or hiring managers looking to find out more information on the interview process.

The role is very customer focused and you always need to be mindful that you are representing Consort at all times. It's a fast paced environment - industry, professionalism and time management are key. During the day I deal with a variety of managers from different parts of the business. It's normal for me to meet a couple of managers during the morning to qualify new roles, discuss the recruitment process and best practice. I also agree timelines and give advice on the current market. The office is always busy with a constant stream of calls and I finish my morning by running and analysing reports which are sent out to the business.

The afternoon begins with meeting my HR colleagues to discuss the status of current and future roles. Time flies by, as my afternoon is comprised of training hiring managers on our recruitment system. The system is used throughout the business so queries on this are constant and help is always needed quickly. I've been in touch during the day with my Consort colleagues whose support is ongoing and valued.

The last action of the day is to interview a candidate with a manager who needed the support. All in all, a productive and successful day with a great feeling that you've helped shaped peoples careers. The team makes me feel like an integral part of the Consort team.
